Final Exam

4. This is my transformative photo. My view of photography changed through this picture because it made me see how light affects the image. I got to learn how to use the light-box, and it made me see photography differently by how people set up objects for pictures.

5. Shapes are flat and are two dimensional in a picture, while form is three dimensional, which could show depth, height, length and width.

Shape: http://alexjiang11.blogspot.com/2015/02/elements-of-art-shapes.html
Form: http://alexjiang11.blogspot.com/2015/03/elements-of-art-form.html

6. Pattern is repeating a symbol or an object. Repetition is makes the work seem like its active and allows the work of art to have unity.

Pattern: http://alexjiang11.blogspot.com/2015/03/principles-of-design-pattern.html
Repetition: http://alexjiang11.blogspot.com/2015/03/principles-of-design-repetition.html

7. Weebly About Page
Inspiration About Page (the photo that he used really grabs someone's attention, almost making you read his information)

8. First Commercial Shoot
Presentation/Gallery Project
Final Project

I believe my best work was the final project. It is my best work because I used what I learned about light so I could take pictures of a dark aquarium. I also used Camera Raw to increase the exposure to make sure you can see the fish, but not making it to bright so people can still see the darkness of an aquarium.
This project changed me because I learned to get extremely close if I want to get a good photo, and I also know how to use a camera to get the pictures that I am satisfied with. (shutter speed, focus, depth of field, etc.)
I learned to see things differently by asking myself; how can I take the best picture in a certain situation and how will I make it better after I take a picture?. I can adjust the shutter speed, get closer to an object to get a better shot, and even think about what I need to edit to make the picture look even better on Camera Raw/Photoshop. I sort of set myself a list of things I need to look out for whenever I take a picture, and this method has definitely let me take better pictures.

Student Website Reviews

Period 1: Michael Shen's Website

His best photo is the second one that he took under the sky tab. The second one is the best because rainbow looks like it goes into the cloud.

Period 2: Hanson Wang's Website

His best photo is the first picture under the gallery tab. The first one is the best because the baseball has depth of field, and the focus on the baseball is really nice.

Period 3: Katherine Lin's Website

Her best photo is the second picture under the gallery tab. The second one is the best because the perspective on Lucas makes it seem like he is riding on a bike, when in reality he is on the ground holding up the bike.

Story with a photo- Enjoying Food

Michael is eating his chow mien and Nathan is eating his sandwich. They are both enjoying the food that is being sold during multicultural week. We usually hang out during lunch and we eat together. Michael is really into his lunch in this picture!

MSJ MCW

The bell rings for lunch to start, and people rush to the horseshoe. Everyone scrambles to find the new ticket booth, and to find friends. After getting the tickets, the hardest part has come; to decide on what to eat. So many different types of food with different types of aromas and looks. There are too many to choose from with only a limited amount of tickets. However, the food can be consumed within four days, so each meal can be different. But the most important part is to enjoy the fact that there can be so many different cultures in one area, and that the happiness can be enjoyed through food. Having friends around also enhance the experience, because enjoying multicultural week with friends is definitely better than enjoying it alone.

I made the picture just a little bit darker so you can see the lines on the bottom. The lines on the bottom have pattern. The colors of yellow and blue on opposite corners causes movement, where the eyes will travel. There is also balance, where the pipe is balancing by two rods.

I cropped the picture to make the tile fit the entire photo. This makes it so that the entire tile makes the picture complete, and it unifies the shape. By making the picture darker and sharper, it looks like the picture would be incomplete without each part.

Shutter Speed and Everything After

My partner is Haroon Rasheed.

1) The shutter speed is fast, because there is motion captured in the photo, but it is not blurry. The trucks on the right are moving on the highway, but they are captured like they have no motion.

2) Haroon's rule of composition that applied to this photo is depth. The trucks in the background are farther away compared to the trucks in the front, and your eyes move from the front objects then to the back.
My rules of composition is color focus, where each truck has its own color, and the viewer looks at each truck because the background is plain, and the color catches the viewers attention.

3) Element of Art-Lines
The lines on the street and the lines on the dividing rail stand out because they have a really bright white, and the picture makes it look like the lines are converging at the back of the photo.

4) Principle of Design-Movement
The colors in the picture stand out, and make your eyes move from truck to truck. The objects seem to be larger in the front, and they get smaller in the back. So the order that my eyes went was from the beginning of the lines in the front, then to each of the trucks, and finally to the last green truck in the very back.

Documenting the Blues in the Mississippi Delta- Variety

I chose photo #2. I chose this photo for variety because there is balance between the fishermen and the fish they are catching, and there is emphasis on the fish because the men are facing them. The movement in this picture starts off with the man in front, then to the man in the back, and then his facial expression leads you to the fish that they are catching. Lastly, the people in the picture in proportion to the fish net because they are about the same size, yet the fish outnumber the people.

This picture is about the space between Frankie and the plant that he is taking a picture of. The space in between the two objects is the focus, which is put in the middle of the picture. I made the picture lighter so that there isn't a lot of focus on the shadow, which is also in the middle.
